Simply (or not so simply) - beautiful! What a gorgeous piece. I think Jan Garbarek is one of the finest saxophonist who ever lived. His "voice" is pure and his sound is rather unique. HIs compositions are engaging. I just don't know why the Keith Jarrett (European) Quartet disbanded. They were incredible. I know this is not they. Katché on percussion, and Eberhard Weber on bass are just wonderful. Rainier Bruinghaus, apart from Jarrett, gives a thrilling piano performance, that is thoughtful, reflective, haunting. Listen to the three note coda at the ending. So enigmatic ... so unsettling.

Wonderful.? Wonderful pieces, especially la Valse de l'Adieu. and these are wonderful performances... what a pity these two waltzes were only published after Chopin's death, they are so great. Some pretentious classical music lovers despised Chopin for his waltzes but really they're not "dance tunes" and anyway... Whp cares ? They're magnificent. Claudio Arrau made them sound like nobody else, injecting so much tenderness, delicacy, power too sometimes... His late 70's recording of them is is a timeless masterpiece.

Chopin mazurkas are where a "self" becomes transcendental, beyond time and space. A distant memory of a Polish village sees itself in the stars of this very day, tomorrow and beyond into eternity.

I Love me some Barbra Streisand!!! I can listen to Somewhere a hundred times and still not get tired of it

La perfection dans l'interprétation de ces Mazurkas, un seul regret, V. Ashkenazy a suivi l'accélération progressive en vogue du tempo pour la Mazurka en Ré majeur, on n'a pas le temps d'apprécier l'alternance de Ré majeur et La majeur !
